JA Delta Discovery Center of Clayton Internship

In late 2025, construction will be complete on the JA Delta Discovery Center of Clayton County, established in partnership with the Clayton County School District and located in Morrow within the new Clayton Convocation Center and Arena complex. The center will host about 200 middle school students a day to participate in three immersive simulations. After weeks of classroom curriculum, the students will travel to the JA Delta Discovery Center of Clayton County for the culminating event – a simulation to experience the concepts that they learned in the classroom.

The three JA simulations: JA BizTown,  JA Finance Park, and the JA Dream Accelerator give students the chance to experience their futures in a hands-on environment, guided by JA staff. Take a virtual tour of one our our other Georgia locations to see a similar space!

Internship Description

Looking to build real-world skills that employers value most? As an intern (JA Coach) at the JA Delta Discovery Center of Clayton, you will take on a leadership role guiding groups of 5–12 middle school students or high school students through immersive simulations like JA BizTown, JA Finance Park, and the JA Dream Accelerator. You will gain hands-on experience in skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and leadership—all while making a meaningful impact on students’ lives.

Interns are trained to facilitate engaging, real-life scenarios that teach financial literacy, career readiness, and community responsibility. You’ll also develop professionalism and customer service skills by interacting with educators and adult role models —building a network and resume that stand out in any field.

Details

  • Pay: This is a paid internship at $15/hour

  • Location: JA Delta Discovery Center of Clayton County is located in Morrow, GA

  • Schedule: 5-6 hours per day, Weekdays only, typically between 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Times are not flexible as the need for support is when students are onsite inside the JA simulations.

  • Commitment: 3-5 days per week for a full spring or fall semester (flexible days based on your class schedule).

  • Training: At the beginning of each semester, Clayton State interns will be trained in advance of the simulations beginning: JA BizTown, JA Finance Park, JA Dream Accelerator

  • Please Note: Transportation not provided; must be able to stand for long periods of time; business professional attire; comfortable with general navigation/use of iPads and computers; passionate about working with middle and high school aged students; bring your own lunch daily (program schedule will not allow time to leave the premises for lunch).

Qualifications

  • Preferred Background: Juniors, seniors, graduate students, or non-traditional underclassmen with relevant experience engaging youth.

  • Key Skills: Reliable, enthusiastic about working with middle and high school students, strong communication skills, teamwork, customer service, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

  • Requirements: Must pass a criminal background check, fingerprinting, and Sex Offender Screening. (and adhere to JA Conduct Standards)

  3. For those that pass the video interview, JA will schedule a 30 minute interview with the candidate.

  4. For those that get accepted into the program, a full criminal background check, finger printing, and behavior assessment will need to be completed before the internship begins.

  5. Attend the Junior Achievement internship orientation.

  6. Begin your Junior Achievement internship program!
